Do NOT follow the -ly rule.

1. Form & Structure

Forming Adverbs of Manner & Position Rules

  • Most Adjectives: Add -ly → quick → quickly, quiet → quietly, soft → softly
  • Adjectives ending in -y: Change y → i + ly → happy → happily, easy → easily, angry → angrily
  • Irregular Adverbs: good → well | fast → fast | hard → hard | late → late | early → early
  • Position: Placed AFTER the main verb or after the direct object → He drives carefully. She speaks English fluently.
